Handy Candy

“Bye, Mom! Feel free to take some candy from my drawer!”

“Haha, sweet girl, I don’t need to eat your candy. Thanks though.”

“No really, Mom. It’s a great stress reliever.”

If she weren’t still working on the dregs of last year’s Halloween haul, I’d start to be worried about apparent self medication. But she really only had a few pieces to begin with, and has just saved them for special occasions. Thus my resistance to her offer. Plus I’m more concerned with her concern over my stress… if that makes sense… so I just laughed. Then it was hugs and kisses goodbye, and a “Have a good time at Dad’s!”

And I closed the door and got on with the day.

But soon the door opened again.

“Mom… I’m serious. Have more if you want to, but please, take at least one. Love you!”

So. I obliged.

These 10 month old fruit snacks were delightful, believe it or not, though I’m sure that had something to do with their source. šŸ˜‰
