Working for Freedom

What job would you do for free?

When I was a teenager, I stayed in Russia for several months. Their economy was rough at that time. My host family explained that much of the middle class has lost their life savings, and many of the people I’d see in the community weren’t being paid for their labor. But they worked anyway, doing what they could to help each other keep going.

I used to wonder whether that could ever happen here, and I don’t wonder so much these days. I just just hope I’ve found the kind of community that will take care of each other no matter what.
