I’m good at WordPress!

Daily writing prompt
What are you good at?

Well this one’s easy: I’m good at WordPress, especially setup, design, and troubleshooting. I’ve been working with WordPress for almost twenty years.

If you’ve ever contacted support at Automattic or searched for help online, you might have come across my work. I’ve spent a lot of time in community forums, and I also help out at local meetups. I love turning frustrated users into confident ones, and creating feature requests and bug reports to make things better. I don’t offer one-on-one help through this site, but if you’ve got a pressing question, feel free to comment and I’ll point you to helpful resources.

Beyond WordPress, I’m good at spotting patterns, untangling messes, and helping people and projects find a clearer path forward. I’ve worn a lot of hats over the years, and I’m good at spotting what’s not working and making practical tweaks that help things run more smoothly for real people.

Oh, and I’m not bad at phone photography, either. I get too perfectionistic with a real camera, but I like sharing everyday shots from my phone. I sometimes post them on my Haiku page. Just don’t expect high-quality poetry. I’m better at silly rhymes.

  1. Hello Velda 🙂 I just wanted to say thank you for all the time and support assistance you’ve offered WordPress users over the years. Your help and that of others – in forums, chats, email, etc. – to alleviate matters related to individual sites is a blessing, one which I personally appreciate very much. Thank you for what you do 🌹

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words, Phil. I’ve always tried to make WordPress a little less overwhelming and a little more welcoming, and it’s nice to see that recognized.

I’m waiting on a little developer help for your case, by the way—it’s an odd one! But I should have word for you tomorrow. Talk to you then! 🙂
