Waking Mary

The first conversation I had with Mary this morning, when I woke her up with a morning hug and a “Time to get up!”

“What? I had zero sleep last night!”

“Well, you were sleeping when I came in to wake you up.”

“I wasn’t asleep. I was just closing my eyes, and thinking.”

“All night?”

“Yup.”

“What were you thinking?”

“If you don’t mind, mom, I’d rather keep my thoughts to myself.”

“OK. I just thought if it kept you up that long, maybe it’s something I could help you with.”

“Oh. How long was last night, anyway?”

“Well, you’ve been in bed for about 8.5 hours. You probably should get 9.5 of rest, though.”

“What? Really? I thought it was only 10 seconds. I guess I probably got a little sleep after all.”

She jetted out of the room after that, and told me she was hyper, but not quite hyper enough for a jog around the house. Just a walk. Wish I felt like that on “10 seconds” of sleep. ๐Ÿ™‚
