Stories of My Life

Waking Mary

The first conversation I had with Mary this morning, when I woke her up with a morning hug and a “Time to get up!” “What? I had zero sleep last night!” “Well, you were sleeping when I came in to wake you up.” “I wasn’t asleep. I was just closing my eyes, and thinking.” “All […]

Tip of the Tongue…

Convo with the kids tonight: Me: “Alright, so how about groccoli and bapes? Er, broccoli and … guh. You know what I mean.” Mary: “Sounds like you’ve picked up on your Dad’s scent.” Ethan and I exchanged glances then busted up Me: “Whew, Dad, I can smell him all the way from here!” Ethan: “Maybe […]

Would you rather be… (by Ethan)

Would you rather be… Stuck in an elevator with somebody who talks a lot?(A) OR Stuck in an elevator with nobody at all?(B) If you said (A) then you are probably extroverted like a dog. If you said (B) then you are probably introverted like a cat. Dogs usually like being with other people. Cats […]

Paused…

Just as an FYI, I’m actually considering porting all my mom-related articles from my old blog into this one, then re-adding these few articles I’ve added. It’ll take me a few days to sort all this. I’ll let you know when I’ve got it. 🙂

Splitting up…

So I’ve actually been thinking about dividing my personal stuff back out into a separate blog again. It would be a lot of work, but I think I would be able to much better showcase my geek/designer/marketing skills here if I took the mommy/faith/life stuff over to another blog. I’d also feel far more comfortable […]

True to the Faith

The past several days have been all over the map. My kids were gone for several days, which is always hard. But I also had great news concerning a job prospect, and that’s all I’ll say about that for now: no official announcements there until things are official. I felt pretty bad, though, about failing […]

Wood Tape

This post made my day. Go read it, and then if you want to read my comments, come on back. I don’t want to spoil it for you. … Did you read it? I know it’s long, but as one friend said when I shared it on google plus, it’s worth every second. One of […]

Date a girl who reads…

Here’s a gorgeous little piece a friend mentioned on twitter and tumbler. For the record, my kids didn’t get to know The Cat in the Hat and Aslan on the same day or even in the same year, but they are well acquainted with both because I’ve always loved reading with them. They’ve both been […]

My son had some rather interesting things to say in this morning's family prayers. Usually he prays that we'll be happy. This time he prayed that we would be good so we could be happy. And afterward he told us about it. "I just realized that doing the things that are fun and make you happy don't always make you good, but being good always ends up making you happy." Love that little guy.

Charter School Drama

Anyone who knows me knows I -love- my kids’ school. I’ve blogged about some of the amazing things they do. I am super heartbroken, though, about all the politics and drama. Several excellent teachers were recently let go without warning or explanation. Now it feels like we’ve got two camps battling each other: the business/leadership […]
