Ron Paul is Magneto??

Yeah that one’s a toughy. I know it’s what America wants, but I’m wondering how anyone regardless of party is going to get our troops out safely without somehow stabilizing the situation there first. It would take -a long time- to move that many troops out, and consider how vulnerable the last several groups to go would be.

People say we shouldn’t have been there in the first place, or that we should have left as soon as saddam was out of power, but the fact is we are there. And so far I’ve seen no plausible ways to change the past. My question for ’08 and the war: who’s going to actually be able to move forward and correct the problems? Again I’m not using my blog to push one candidate or another, but I have to say there’s one out there who has a way of taking bad situations and turning them around — and that’s where my vote will go.

So here’s a question for the Ron Paul fans who’ve arrived on this page. Does Ron Paul really support "Death to Israel" — and if not, why are his avid fans chanting:

"death to israel
VOTE RON PAUL 2008 SAVE OUR REPUBLIC"

Are his fans mislead or is he really like that? I don’t think I’d be a fan of any presidential candidate who’d advocate death to any country.

To be honest, the more I’m exposed to Ron Paul supporters, the scarier he becomes…

Just look at the website of one of his biggest supporters — David Duke. Duke is unabashedly racist and Anti-Semitic — he’s the former grandmaster of the KKK! He is also a huge Ron Paul supporter. I think it revealing that Paul has done nothing to disavow or reject Duke.

To back Velda up — you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep.

My opinion of Ron Paul has softened up just a bit actually after seeing how so many of the other candidates have behaved. As far as I can tell, he hasn’t blatantly lied about the other candidates, and that’s more than you can say for some of them.

I do think he’s got a bit of an any-flavor attitude, though… he’ll let his supporters make whatever claim they want about his stances and he does not correct them. Indeed, he let people publish a newsletter with his name signed on it, and apparently didn’t even read the racist content… or simply didn’t care.

There are good, normal, rational people I know who support Ron Paul. And then there are the crazy Ron Paul supporters. Both have vastly different ideas about who Ron Paul is and what he will and will not do.

But the fact is, you only have to look at his record to find out what he’ll DO. You can find that here:

Look at his bill sponsorship, or even at his success with his voting record. What I see is a guy who holds so tightly to a few ideals that he doesn’t get anything done.

You may not agree with any of this, but I just stumbled upon your blog and thought I’d give you my opinion…

Ron Paul is known as Dr. No. This is because he votes "No" on many of the bills that go through the House and he only proposes bills that are constitutional.
That basically means that he does not want to infringe on the rights of American citizens.

If I’m not mistaken, I believe he supports/creates more bills than most of the people in congress. The reason why he has a low success rate with getting bills passed is because few congress members actually align with his fundamental view of things. I mean, he’s a libertarian, and in general libertarians just advocate liberty for all individuals and by default that incorporates upholding the constitution, which states the inalienable rights of citizens.

– He wants to get rid of the Income tax, which is unconstitutional/unnecessary.
– Like most libertarians he thinks that the role of government is to provide protection for it’s citizens, and that is all.
that means no government funded: education, healthcare, welfare(there is a great argument explaining the immorality of welfare), and others that I can’t think.

– He would fight tooth and nail as most libertarians would to allow someone to do anything imaginable, as long as they are not harming anyone else.

– He is very knowledgeable about economics, specifically Austrian economics(which is a very well developed understanding of economics). He predicted the financial crisis we are in many years ago, and this was due to his knowledge of economics.

– He was an Obstetrician(?) for many years and accepted no government funding for his private practice. He made more money than if he had accepted the government funding, was able to provide cheap services to people with/without insurance, and he was able to deliver many free babies for low-income women.

Really the guy is probably one of the most caring, respectful, and compassionate men on Earth. He only speaks the truth and cares about the freedom of every person.

There are probably at least a few million people who like Ron Paul and they grow in #’s daily. A little over 1 million people voted for him in the primaries and sure that wasn’t enough to win, but 1 million people believed in him and that says a lot. Yes, some of them are crazies, that is definitely apparent. What they typically have in common with the normal and rational people is the want to protect their rights as a human being.

For the record, I would have Loved to have Mitt Romney as an option this election. I’m not happy that McCain got the hot seat. How did THAT happen? I have my theories… 😦

There are a few ways to deal with this: Vote by strategy: if you’re in a swing state, vote for the candidate whose positions are more tolerable to you, OR vote for Paul, but work on promoting congressional candidates who could help balance the power if the worst guy wins.
